Work Summary/ Job Purpose

The role requires the individual to identify and negotiate a continuous supply of a range of products for purchase by franchisees in accordance with our approved business model and ongoing relationship management of suppliers, thereby maximising profit for franchisees and Sasol. The additional work role will include taking the leadership in Intactix/plannogram execution.

Required outputs: Functional
Develop Strategic Category plans to drive business growth and space management.
Ongoing Product and pricing management, aligning it with customer needs and overseeing the pricing and ranging
Provide ongoing support to the Operations team, marketing team and franchisees with regard to merchandise, profitability, pricing and promotions including solutions for product, shop and supplier related problems.
Oversee the supply chain strategy, and source and manage external suppliers in line with the preferred supplier strategy including negotiating trading terms, sales and advertising rebates.
Negotiate national and local promotions with suppliers and plan these with franchisees in order to achieve the promotional strategy objectives, and oversee the successful execution at store level.
Drive category performance in line with performance targets, and manage the margins at category and sub-category level.
Responsible for plannogram design in line with merchandising standards, and ensure buy in and implementation at store level.
Strong relationships with Suppliers, Internal teams and Franchisees are critical to being successful in this role.
Leading, training and guiding the Convenience team with plannogram development & implementation process
Ensuring that Sasol is up to date on all Plannogram software updates and developments

The Incumbent is required to have competencies in the following areas:
Ability to work under pressure, manage many suppliers and issues at one time and respond quickly to issues
Intactix knowledge/knowhow
Ability to take the lead willingly when needed
Strong track record for achieving stretched performance targets
Show skilful application of the ability to create innovative solutions to business challenges
Need to be able to work with others and make a real difference
Excellent communication skills
Strong admin skills for reports, briefs and specifications
Convenience store experience/understanding
Business and financial acumen
The Merchandising principles
Data management skills
Understand convenience retailing




In general the role requires a person who has attention to detail, is able to work under pressure, has good communication skills, is able to travel and has flexible working hours, is a strong team player with a passion for retail, is performance biased and is able to work unsupervised.

The incumbent reports directly to the National Convenience Manager and is required to influence the franchisees and work closely with Suppliers. Their decision making role is only at site level within the list of suppliers and for the customisation of products within the Merchandising principles.

Job Requirements
Qualifications:National Diploma/Degree


Experience:
8 years experience in retail, 3-5 of which much have been in buying and category management.
Category manager/Buyer experience within an FMCG environment
Track record of Supplier negotiations, and providing operational support
Intactix experience
